Mexican boxer Saul Canelo Alvarez scored another pro win.

He fought at a boxing gala in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he was challenged for the title of defending champion in the welterweight division by Britain’s John Ryder.

The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds. In the fifth three-minute round, Canelo knocked his opponent down. At the end of the eighth round, Ryder was on the canvas again, but the referee decided that it had happened after the bell for the break, so he didn’t count the knockdown.

Ryder put up a kind of resistance that probably nobody expected from him. He held out until the end of the fight.

In the end, Alvarez won by unanimous decision.

The win was the 59th for the Mexican in the pro world. Ryder lost for the sixth time.

Thus, Alvarez defended his titles. It was his first fight after the trilogy with Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin.
