The jersey of 19-year-old NBA player Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, worn during his debut match in the NBA, was sold at auction for $762,000, as reported by ESPN. This stands as the highest price ever paid for a debutant’s jersey in the league. Initially expected to fetch $80,000 to $120,000, the final price far exceeded those estimates.

Wembanyama was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs this summer as the overall first pick in the NBA draft. The 19-year-old French player made his league debut on October 25th against Dallas, scoring 15 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and providing 2 assists in that game.

Additionally, at the same auction, the debut jerseys of Scott Henderson and Brandon Miller, the second and third picks in the 2023 draft, were sold for $19,100 and $27,900, respectively.
