Al-Nassr, for which star Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo plays, has made another misfire at the end of the season in the Saudi Arabian Premier League. Now four rounds before the end of the championship the team is already five points behind the leader.
The day before, Al-Nassr played a draw at home with Al-Khaleej, who are just three points ahead of the relegation zone, 1-1. Ronaldo, 38, was on the pitch throughout the game, but it was Spanish defender Alvaro Gonzalez who scored the only goal for the home side.
The league leaders Al-Ittihad toppled Abha 4-0 at home. Now, after 26 rounds of 30, the club has 62 points, while Al-Nassr has only 57. There are still four more rounds to go, but it’s highly unlikely the leaders will squander their advantage.
During this season, Ronaldo’s club was also stopped in the semi-finals of the Super Cup and in the quarterfinals of the Saudi Arabian King’s Cup. Thus, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s first season in that country risks becoming trophy-free.
Recall that Ronaldo moved to the Al-Nassr camp at the end of 2022. He has scored 12 goals and two assists in 16 matches for his club in all competitions.
