Manchester City’s head coach, Pep Guardiola, confirmed that the team is in the final stages of negotiations to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.
Guardiola said during a press conference that Gvardiol was undergoing a medical examination and he wanted to say it right away, so everyone knew. He also expressed his hope that the deal would be closed very soon.
The 21-year-old Gvardiol has been playing for Leipzig since 2020. He also had a stint at Dinamo Zagreb.
Transfermarkt values the defender at 75 million euros in the transfer market. The player’s contract with the German club runs until 2027. In the last Bundesliga season, he played 30 matches and scored one goal.
As a member of the Croatian national team, Gvardiol won bronze at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
