Players from the state of Kentucky placed bets totaling $4.5 million during the two weeks of legal bookmaker company operations. “This is an impressive figure that undoubtedly reflects the interest of Kentucky residents in sports betting. With the start of college football and NFL seasons, as well as the launch of mobile betting, we expect this number to grow even more,” said Governor Andy Beshear.
Currently, there are nine bookmaker companies in the state, but new ones, including BetMGM, will be opening soon.
In just six days, online betting will also begin in the state from the following operators:
- bet365
- BetMGM
- Caesars
- Circa
- DraftKings
- Fanatics
- FanDuel
- Penn
Despite the successful start of retail betting, analysts are confident that online betting will attract many more customers in Kentucky, as in all other legal states, over 90% of the total betting volume comes from online betting.
