It has been reported that Senators Joseph Addabbo Jr. and Gary Pretlow are gearing up to introduce a bill in 2024 aimed at legalizing online casinos in New York state. These lawmakers, previously involved in passing legislation on online sports betting, have suggested that online casinos could potentially generate around $1 billion annually in tax revenue for the state.
As per information provided by one of the senators, nearly $1 billion in tax revenue was generated in the initial year of online sports betting, surpassing any other state’s earnings. A substantial portion of this revenue was designated to support education and sports programs specifically designed for children with disabilities.
Senator Addabbo Jr. reportedly informed Sports Betting Dime that the draft version of the bill would be finalized by the end of 2023, with its presentation expected just before the commencement of the 2024 legislative session.
