The flagship poker room of the Flutter Holdings company, PokerStars, has confirmed its upcoming departure from the Norwegian market. The operator has informed its Norwegian customers that the service will cease operations in the country on October 26th. Before this date, they must withdraw their funds from their gaming accounts.
PokerStars is the latest major operator to confirm its exit from the Norwegian market, joining others like Joom, Kindred, ComeOn, Betsson, and other significant players.
In September, after several years of legal disputes, the Norwegian Gaming Authority (Lottstift) announced that all unlicensed operators must cease their activities within the country’s territory, or else the regulator would begin blocking them and imposing significant fines.
In the end, 15 major operators working without the necessary licenses are leaving the Norwegian market.
