Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina improved her position in the world rankings after reaching the finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells (USA) and defeating the Greek Maria Sakkari from Belarus Arina Sabalenka.
Rybakina climbed from tenth place to eighth in the WTA Live rankings. If Elena wins the title, she will become the new seventh racquet of the world, regardless of the performances of the other tennis players. Previously she had never risen above the tenth line.
Let us remind that in the semi-finals of the tournament in Indian Wells Rybakina defeated the first racket of the world the Polish Iga Schwentek and for the first time in her career reached the final. Sabalenka defeated Saccari – 6:2, 6:3.
The final match Rybakina – Sabalenka will be held on March 20.
