The former Barcelona defender was arrested today on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young woman at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on December 30. It happened in Barcelona at about 10 a.m. local time.
On the morning of January 20, Alves was due to appear at the Les Corts police station in the Catalan capital for questioning. After his arrest, Dani would be taken to court, where a temporary precautionary measure would be chosen for him.
According to the complainant, Alves, who was on vacation in Barcelona after participating in the World Cup in Qatar with the Brazilian national team, approached a young woman at a nightclub party and slipped his hand under her underwear without her consent. According to the victim, when she managed to get away from the footballer, she reported it to her friends and nightclub security, who contacted the Catalan police.
After the accusations, Dani confirmed that he was at the Sutton club on December 30th, but denied that he had allowed any inappropriate behavior: “I have never invaded people’s personal space. This is an attempt to hurt me and my loved ones.”
During his career, the defender also played for Sevilla, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Sao Paulo. In 2022 the player signed a contract with the Mexican club Pumas.
