Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic was fined eight thousand dollars for a broken racket in the Wimbledon tournament final.
In this match, the world’s number one player, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, defeated Djokovic with a score of 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.
In the fifth set, after Djokovic lost his serve, the 23-time Grand Slam winner smashed his racket against the post holding the net. The referee issued him a warning for a violation of the code of conduct.
The fine of eight thousand dollars will be deducted from Djokovic’s prize money, which amounted to 1.5 million dollars for participating in the tournament.
