The Major League Baseball claimed they needed a federal mediator to get to the decision in the negotiations with the MLB Player Association. If it is accepted, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service will assist both sides in further discussion on the core economic issues of the league.
Currently, the delays with the final agreement might impact the season schedule, so the negotiation process might be boosted with the help of a neutral mediator like MLS, experienced in many professional sports negotiations.
The latest meeting of the MLB and MLBPA took place on Tuesday, but the league’s suggestions on prospective changes and reforms were rejected by the Association. The main proposal included the pre-arbitration bonus pool increase.
