British promoter Eddie Hearn, who is responsible for organizing the latest fights of WBA bantamweight titleholder Dmitry Bivol and absolute middleweight champion Saul Canelo Alvarez, does not rule out that the rematch may take place in the Mexican’s division.
The opposition previously picked up the Mexican, and the Russian will face Gilberto Ramirez in his next fight.
“The target is Dmitry Bivol. Obviously, ‘Canelo’ wants to avenge his defeat, but Bivol has a very tough fight with Ramirez on November 5. And we have to make sure he can handle it.
I don’t think Canelo sees the featherweight division as a division he must return to. We shouldn’t rule out the possibility of Bivol going down to the second middleweight division and fighting for the outright title, because that’s what he wants,- Hearn told Matchroom Boxing.
