Spanish club Villarreal has officially announced the signing of 29-year-old winger Nicolas Pépé on a two-year contract. The agreement marks a significant addition to the team as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Pépé’s last stint was with Turkish side Trabzonspor, where he played 19 matches in the Süper Lig last season, scoring five goals. After leaving the club as a free agent, Pépé sought new opportunities in Europe, ultimately choosing Villarreal as his next destination.

The Ivorian international has spent most of his career in French football, enjoying a particularly successful spell at Lille. In the summer of 2019, Pépé made headlines with his transfer to Arsenal, where the London club paid €80 million for the talented winger.

During his time with the Gunners, Pépé appeared in 112 matches across all competitions and scored 27 goals. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, he struggled to consistently replicate his form from Ligue 1. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is currently estimated at €8.5 million.

Villarreal’s acquisition of Pépé adds depth and experience to their squad, as they aim to compete at the highest levels in La Liga and European competitions. The signing also provides Pépé with a fresh start and the opportunity to reestablish himself as a top-tier winger.
