A decade ago, DraftKings was formed in the extra bedroom of a Watertown, Massachusetts, apartment. Hence, there could not have been a more raucous celebration anywhere than at the sportsbook’s Boston offices last August when legislators finally reached a compromise on legal Massachusetts sports betting.
DraftKings A mobile betting app has been approved for release in Massachusetts and is scheduled to go live on March 10. According to the Massachusetts Gambling Commission, mobile sports betting in the state can begin on that day.
Retail sports betting debuted at 10 a.m. on January 31, 2023, however, that didn’t include DraftKings Massachusetts. Why? DraftKings MA is unable to provide a retail sportsbook because it has been granted an “untethered” mobile license and does not have a partnership with a casino.
The retail sportsbooks that are taking sports bets from January in Massachusetts are:
- Encore Boston Harbor (WynnBET)
- Plainridge Park Casino (Barstool Sportsbook)
- MGM Springfield (BetMGM)
