Barcelona won La Liga for the first time in 24 years without Messi
Barcelona clinched the league title early after beating Espanyol 4-2 in round 34 of La Liga.
This is the first championship of the Catalan club in 24 years without Lionel Messi. The last time the Blues became champions without the Argentine forward was in the 1998/99 season.
Messi won the league title ten times with Barcelona before joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.
It was previously noted that Messi is close to returning to Barcelona this summer. His contract with PSG expires on June 30 and he is not going to activate the option to renew it for another season.
