Sports betting went live in Maryland last year, with the first legal bet placed by Gov. Larry Hogan, and it’s going to develop further in 2022. Currently, Maryland offers only retail betting options, with five venues officially opened for gamblers.

According to the current plan, several more bookies must open this year, some of them going online. Most likely, online betting sites in Maryland will be ready to accept online sports bets in the fall. Mobile betting will start right before the 2022 NFL season if things go as planned.

Today, three retail locations are going to open at the nearest time. They already got the gambling licenses from the Maryland Sports Wagering Application Review Commission and will most likely launch by spring. They are the Long Shot’s restaurant in Frederick, the off-track horse betting venue Greenmount Station, and the Riverboat restaurant, which will partner with PointsBet as an online gambling partner.
