The 47-year-old Argentine boxer Sergio Martinez (56-3-2, 31 KOs), ranked third by the WBA and a former two-time world champion, believes he will have a new opportunity to fight for the title in 2023. He intends to challenge Gennady Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs), even if his life is in danger.

“If I could choose who to challenge, I would name Gennady Golovkin. Some might say Golovkin would kill me. Yes, I know he might kill me. Or maybe not. I can teach him a boxing lesson. I’m getting better every day. I’m not just as good as I was before, I’m getting a lot better,” Martinez was quoted as saying.

We must recall that Golovkin is the WBA Super, IBF, and IBO middleweight champion of the world. In his last fight this September he lost to Saul Alvarez of Mexico. Martinez came to the ring two weeks ago, beating by TKO the little-known American Noah Kidd.
