Lionel Messi’s transfer has made Inter Miami the most popular football club in North America.
According to ESPN FC, the number of followers on the team’s official Instagram page increased from 1 million to 8 million, allowing Inter Miami to rank fifth among all American sports clubs, behind only the basketball teams.

- Golden State Warriors (30.6 million followers);
- Los Angeles Lakers (22.8 million);
- Cleveland Cavaliers (15.7 million);
- Chicago Bulls (9.7 million);
- Inter Miami (8 million).
It should be noted that Messi was also courted by Spain’s Barcelona and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, but the Argentine chose the MLS club Inter Miami, explaining his decision by saying that he wants to rediscover joy, enjoy his family, and everyday life.
