The referee corps of the “Roland Garros” tournament has confirmed that Japanese tennis player Miyu Kato has been stripped of all ranking points and prize money for her performance in the doubles category of the tournament.

This came as a result of a high-profile incident in which she became involved during the quarterfinal match of the doubles category.

To recap, during the second set, the Japanese player accidentally hit the ball into the ball girl, causing her to cry. The referee initially intended to issue a warning to Kato, but her opponents in the match, Czech player Marie Bouzkova and Spanish player Sara Sorribes Tormo, insisted on Kato’s disqualification.
