On Tuesday afternoon, Gov. Baker announced that he supports legalizing sports betting in Massachusetts — ‘conceptually’. He received the revised bill from lawmakers last week, and claimed he needed to work through the details within the next couple of days. The deadline for signing the bill is Thursday. On this day, Baker will either send the bill back with amendments or decline it.
Lawmakers in the House and Senate were hoping that the launch of legalized sports betting can start in fall and be related to the beginning of the football season. However, it’s now less likely and might take several months before the final approval and the bill signing.
